Pain is a form of alertness and particularly;

pain is a way in.
Pain is the first proper step to real compassion;
for ourselves & others.
That we all struggle with our existence.

Pain is s a lonely road,

no one can know the measure of our agonies,
but through pain we have the possibility,
of coming to know our boundaries, and through that,
we come to know ourselves.


Maybe it is the difficulty and the revelation and the gift

to see love as the ultimate in giving and letting go..

and through the doorway of that affection make the most difficult sacrifice of all,
giving away the very thing
we want to hold forever.
